  • My door / window is closed, but my alarm system shows it as opened. How do I fix this?

    If your alarm system is stating that one of your doors or windows is open, but is actually closed, then you'll need to physically inspect the door/window sensor.

    1. Step 1: Are both parts of the sensor still on the door or window? Your sensor has two parts that need to separate when the door or window is opened or line up when it is closed, so if a piece is missing the door or window will show as opened.

    2. Step 2: Are both parts of the sensor lined up properly? On the side of the smaller piece of the sensor, which is a magnet, there should be an arrow or line. This needs to be lined up with the corresponding line or arrow on the larger piece of the sensor.

    3. Step 3: How far apart are the two pieces? The smaller magnet piece should be within half of an inch of the larger sensor piece. A good rule of thumb is no further than a pencil or pen's width apart.

    4. Step 4: Does the sensor work when it is off of the door or window? To narrow down the cause of the sensor reading open, take both pieces off of the door or window (if possible), and place them on a table or counter top. Line up both pieces of the sensor next to each other, touching, and see if the door or window is still showing as open.

    If the above steps resolve the issue and the door or window is no longer reading open, then the sensor is working properly and can be placed back on the door or window. If the issue persists, contact our support team via the Live Chat option on this site.
