Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Enhanced Call Verification (ECV)?

    keyboard_arrow_down

Police departments in select cities, regions, and states have passed laws to cut down on false alarms. The areas outline in the "Enhanced Call Verification Chart" on this page require two different phone numbers to be contacted before the police department is notified of an intrusion on your home security system. Check your account and make sure you are following the rules of your local jurisdiction. Your second phone number doesn’t have to be someone in your household—it could even be that of a family friend, relative, or trusted neighbor.

  • What can occur if I only have one phone number and live in an area that requires ECV?

    keyboard_arrow_down

If Protect America only has one (1) phone number on file for your account, it is against local ordinance to dispatch emergency service in the event of an alarm. Please note: this legislation was enacted by your local jurisdiction (city, township, county, or state). If you wish to update your account, contact us immediately by using our Live Chat option on the right or by calling our support team at 1-800-951-5111 (option 4).
