    Protect America acknowledges that in some cases the current customer is unavailable or unable to request the transfer. Below are three common types of transfers that do not require the current customer participation in the process. 1. Married (Change of Responsibility): Account is in one spouse’s name and credit and it must move to the other spouse’s name and credit. Both individuals have the same address. A marriage license needs to be provided to Protect America, Inc. 2. Deceased Spouse (Change of Responsibility) The account is in the deceased spouse’s name and credit. The surviving spouse wishes to transfer the account into their name. A copy of the death certificate must be provided to Protect America, Inc. 3. Divorced (Change of Responsibility) Account is in spouse’s name and credit and a divorce occurs. Spouse is living in the house where system is located and wants to move it to their name and credit. A copy of the divorce decree needs to be provided to Protect America, Inc.   • How long does it take to transfer ownership of an account?

    A Change of Responsibility DocuSign document will be sent to the potential new customer via email within 48 hours. The potential customer has up to 15 days to complete the Change of Responsibility DocuSign document. Once the Change of Responsibility paperowrk is received, there will be a 48-72 hour hold in order to fully complete the transaction.   • What documents are needed to transfer service to another individual?

    After the current account holder submits a request to transfer service, the potential new customer will receive a Change of Responsibility DocuSign document via email within 48 hours. The potential new customer will have 15 days to complete the DocuSign document. If protect America, Inc. does not receive the DocuSign documents within the 15 days, we will assume that the transfer is no longer needed and we will cancel the request. Approved credit is required to qualify. A credit check will be run for the potential new customer upon receipt of the Change of Responsibility DocuSign. Co-signers are accepted if the credit check is denied. Once the Change of Responsibility paperwork is received, there will be be a 48-72 hour hold in order to fully complete the transaction.     A transfer must be initiated by the current account holder. The account may not have a past due balance during the transfer process. A full system test will be required by the new owner once the transfer is complete. The current account holder will need to provide the potential new account holder's full name, phone number, and email address. The current account holder can utilize our Live Chat feature on the right to submit the transfer request and test the system if needed.
